چکیده

Powder bed fusion is the most common technology used for 3D printing, where thermal energy to selectively melt/sinter granular materials into solid shapes. The build platform then lowered, more powder added, and process repeated next layer fully print design. As a result, built-up part repeatedly heated. Therefore, that are not sensitive history preferred this process. Ti–Zr system forms continuous solution both β- α-phases. presence of Fe in Ti alloys inevitable; however, it provides some beneficial effects. purpose work was prepare Ti–Zr–Fe investigate their heat treatment behaviour. Ti-xmass%Zr-1mass%Fe (x = 0, 5, 10) were prepared with arc melting. formation Zr confirmed on basis X-ray diffraction peak shifts hardening A small amount β-phase precipitation suggested by change electrical resistivity after isothermal ageing at 673 773 K. However, no obvious phase or microstructural changes observed. laser scanning increased volume precipitates also coarsened them, but effect limited.

Printability of alloys for additive manufacturing

Although additive manufacturing (AM), or three dimensional (3D) printing, provides significant advantages over existing manufacturing techniques, metallic parts produced by AM are susceptible to distortion, lack of fusion defects and compositional changes. Here we show that the printability, or the ability of an alloy to avoid these defects, can be examined by developing and testing appropriate...

Chemico-Thermal Treatment of Titanium Alloys – Nitriding

Titanium and its alloys are widely used in aircraft, rocket production, shipbuilding, machine industry, chemical and food industry, medicine due to their high specific strength, good corrosion resistance and biological passivity. However, titanium has properties which limit its application as construction material. Particularly, tendency to surface adhesion and galling at friction results in it...

Complex metallic alloys as new materials for additive manufacturing

Additive manufacturing processes allow freeform fabrication of the physical representation of a three-dimensional computer-aided design (CAD) data model. This area has been expanding rapidly over the last 20 years. It includes several techniques such as selective laser sintering and stereolithography. The range of materials used today is quite restricted while there is a real demand for manufac...

Ultra-Precision Metal Additive Manufacturing for Thermal Management of Microelectronics

Thermal management of microelectronic devices is an ongoing technological challenge that directly affects device-level and system-level performance and reliability [1]. The fundamental process of electron transport in a transistor device results in dissipation of heat. This causes temperature rise, which in turn limits device performance. For most semiconductor devices, performance goes down wi...
